Thirty groups in universities in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England work with a central team. Student volunteers from STAR help the British Red Cross provide free English, Maths, IT and homework support to very vulnerable and disadvantaged young people: helping make them feel part of the community as well as developing numeracy and literacy skills.

In March STAR delivered 3,772 paper boats to 10 Downing Street, each representing a life lost in the Mediterranean last year as people tried to reach safety in Europe.
