The Sea Cemetery – a heart-breaking memorial to refugee deaths at sea

The tragedy of lives lost attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea continues to be a sobering reminder of the unsafe routes into Europe followed by thousands of refugees leaving their homeland.

The Sea Cemetery is a poignant memorial to refugees who have drowned.

Support to Life and TBWA/ISTANBUL collaborated to prevent the unfortunate deaths to become a causality we want to expand our refugee protection program and support more refugees.

In memory of thousands of refugees, who lost their lives trying to cross the sea, with The Sea Cemetery we want to help support more refugees, dreaming of an honourable life.

Support to Life add:

The Syrian Civil War is one of the biggest humanitarian crises of our time. Since the beginning of the war, millions of Syrian people have left their homeland, and became refugees. The escape route is as tragic as the war itself for them. The final destination is Europe; the dream is an honourable life. But, we all know that it is not an easy dream to achieve.

More than 4000 Syrian refugees passed away trying to cross the Mediterranean. Many Syrians continue to take this deadly journey everyday.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) puts numbers on the scale of the deaths, with more than 1,000 reported in May 2016.
