Welcome Fest in Belfast Cathedral (Thu 23 June)

As part of Refugee Week, there will be a family-friendly world music gig in Belfast’s St Anne’s Cathedral on Thursday 23 June from 7pm.

Organised by the British Red Cross, Belfast Friendship Club and the Northern Ireland Community of Refugees and Asylum Seekers (NICRAS) in conjunction with Belfast Cathedral, Welcome Fest is taking the theme of Different Pasts, Shared Future.

Confirmed acts include Donna Namukasa, Heidi Heidelberg and Maurizio Velezsierra, Fiona O’Kane and Frances Mitchell, Julius Mitchells and Indian dancers.

Donna and Dean John MannLooking ahead to the celebration, Very Rev John Mann, Dean of St Anne’s Cathedral, said:

“May this night open our eyes and ears to fresh sights and sounds, help us make new friends and bring a smile and raise spirits all round. Do come. You will be very welcome.”

The event has the support of Wheelworks, Beyond Skin, Love Music Hate Racism and the SOS Bus.

There will be children’s activities both inside and outside the Cathedral, so bring the whole family.
